Memory lane

# Chapter 145

Christmas morning in Georgia 2020 the year we all stayed home. Sitting here at the table reminiscing about our childhoods, well mostly my dad reminiscing and me listening, but I shared a few Christmas memories too. 52 years ago in this very house I received my first bicycle that had actually belonged to my dad when he was a kid and he refurbished it and I thought it was a Cadillac! Bright red and new tires and I had never ridden a bicycle before! It was beautiful. The first time I rode it I promptly drove it right into a tree. I can still remember mama laughing at me for being such a lousy driver.

Ah the memories. This house is simply full of memories, Christmas memories, funeral memories, teenage memories, thanksgiving memories, college memories, wedding memories, grad school memories, having my own kids memories, and now . . . its just my dad and I left, and he is 80 and I am almost 60 years old . . . soon we won’t be here either. But oh the memories!
